How to Rip DVD to Passthrough Format?
Passthrough, as its name indicates, the audio and video of Passthrough video will be exactly passed through instead of being copied and ripped. Passthrough formats are of ultra high quality as they embed lossless video and audio stream in itself. Step 1: Run Sothink DVD Ripper, and load the source
Double click the desktop icon of Sothink quick launcher you've successfully installed to have it run, and then choose DVD Ripper from the welcome screen.
Load the source DVD disc/ISO/folder following the instructions.
Step 2: Choose one Passthrough format, and select the output path
After source loading, move to the right pane and click the profile switcher to enter into Sothink's library. Choose one Passthrough format from the Video tab of Format part. And then select the titles, audio tracks and subtitles you want to keep in the result.
As you choose Passthrough format, all the video and audio parameters will be unchangeable, which will be exactly the same as the source. As for video edit, you can just trim the video to cut off the parts you need or add external subtitles.
At last, move to the lowest interface, and choose the output path for storing the output Passthrough video at the Save to part.
Step 3: Begin ripping Blu-ray
Hit the Start button, Sothink will immediately begin ripping Blu-ray to Passthrough. During the process, you can get the detailed progress information and you can also set your PC to automatically shut down, exit program, hibernate or do nothing when the task is finished.
OK, done! Now you can see the output file is a video with .mkv as extension. Check the output video, you will know what lossless is about.
